The Memorial Garden was established in 1997, making it possible for families to place the ashes of deceased members in the churchyard. In a sense this is a return to a practice that was followed by churches everywhere for many years. For many families, it is satisfying to have births, marriages and deaths all closely connected to the church.

Members of Westminster Presbyterian Church, their immediate families and those considered part of the "church family" by means of their regular participation in worship are eligible to be interred in the Garden. Family members who are interested in either a current need or a reservation for the future may make arrangements by contacting the church office and completing the Application Agreement for Interment.

The church does not make arrangements for cremation. This is the responsibility of the family of the deceased. The family may arrange with one of the pastors if they wish to have a conducted service in the Sanctuary, or a conducted or private service in the Memorial Garden.

When the ashes of the first member of a family are deposited, the next space or spaces may be reserved for the spouse or other members of the family. Several weeks following the placement of the ashes a bronze plaque that shows the name, date of birth, and date of death will be prepared and permanently mounted upon the concrete lip of the flowerbed in the Memorial Garden. A plot map indicating the location of each interment site will remain as part of the permanent records of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

To make arrangements or for additional information please contact the church office by phone (541-773-8274) or by email at Memorials
